Reading the Rainbow (see below)
“The Railroads That Became the B&O,” presented by railroad historian Michael Kole & local history specialist Daniel Frizzi, Jr., Saturday, July 19th at noon

Reading Goals:
Upon registering, each reader will have a paint can placed on one of our reading boards. Each reader will also be sent home with a reading log bookmark. For every ten minutes you spend reading, you will color a paintbrush on the reading log (Readers can also track their minutes with the Reader Zone app). Each paintbrush will earn you one sticker to place on your paint can. 10 stickers earn you another paint can to place on the reading board. Each paint can you earn throughout the summer will get you an extra ticket to use for our Summer Reading Finale Carnival or to pick prizes if you can’t attend the Finale.

Each registered reader will receive two additional stickers to use toward extra paint cans for each program attended throughout the summer. Readers who complete their reading contract signed at registration will receive an extra paint can!
Additional Reading Challenge for Teens and Adults:
"Reading the Rainbow"
In addition to tracking your time spent reading, join us in the “Reading the Rainbow” challenge. Remember that helpful mnemonic device “ROY G BIV?” Well, get ready to put that knowledge to use as you read a book with a cover to match each color of the rainbow Each full spectrum of color finished will earn you a special pot of gold sticker and a chance to enter our Summer Reading prize raffle!

Track Your Reading:
For those who wish to track their minutes read digitally instead of with a paper bookmark, this year we are offering the Reader Zone app for smartphones and tablets. You can also track which books you’ve read in the app. Pretty cool!

To join our reading program in Reader Zone, you will need an email address. To get started:
- Search for “Reader Zone” in your device’s app store.
- Install the free app on your device.
- Follow the instructions to make an account. Where it asks for our Reading Program Code, enter 2f4c2.
- Begin logging your minutes read!
Families can register multiple readers with one account.
