The following is a summary of the Youth Services Coordinator position:

The Youth Services Specialist plays a vital role in creating engaging, innovative library experiences for children, teens, and young adults. This full‑time position plans and delivers dynamic programs with a strong focus on STEAM learning, digital literacy, and youth engagement, both in the library and throughout the community. The Youth Services Specialist oversees the Teen Area, Maker’s Space, and e‑Sports area, provides hands‑on learning opportunities, and builds strong connections with schools, families, and partner organizations. Working collaboratively with library staff, this position helps foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where young people are encouraged to explore, create, and grow.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with children and/or teens; library experience preferred
  • Strong interest in youth services, STEAM education, maker activities, and emerging technologies
  • Digital literacy skills, including experience with computers, software, and gaming or technology-based tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed
  • Ability to manage youth behavior concerns with consistency, respect, and professionalism
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel for outreach and offsite programming
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of library work, including lifting materials up to 50 pounds
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
  • Successful completion of a background check
